Woot!!!! My book is officially out today!! You have no idea how long a journey this has been.
It’s all good though…I’m here! And you’re in luck…the official Sucks to Be Me Book Launch party is goin’ on until September 10th! I’ve got a bunch of awesome guest authors (like Lauren Myracle and Alan Gratz and…geez, lots more of my favs!) and a bunch of prizes to give away. And even better? A whopping big prize pack at the end!
Here’s how it works…every day from now through Sept. 10th I’ll be featuring a different author and an associated giveaway. You can come back each day to enter for that giveaway (and to learn about some of the coolest authors around!!)…you’ll have a whole week to enter for each one. Each blog launch party day that you enter for will also give you an entry for the grand Poo-bah of Prize Packs (sponsored by Mirrorstone, my publisher, and little ‘ol me). And on September 11th will be a final entry day for the grand prize pack. So, what’ll be in the grand prize pack? Nice of you to ask…
- Sucks to Be Me (autographed)
- A Sucks to Be Me t-shirt (your choice of S, M, or L)
- A Sucks to Be Me handmade (by my super talented ultra-cool editor) stuffed bat that is too cute for words (designed by the awesome Emi Tanji)
- Various vampire-themed paraphanelia (glow-in-the-dark fangs, bite mark sticker tattoos, etc.)
- A Practical Guide to Monsters (autographed)

- A Practical Guide to Dragon Riding
- Time Spies, Secret in the Tower (autographed)

- All contained in a super-cool Mirrorstone tote bag!
Extra Entries!
You want even more entries for this incredibly awesome prize pack?? Okay…here’s what you can do…if you’ve read my book (and hey, starting today anyone can!), post a review online and send me an email at kim @ kimberlypauley.com telling me where you posted it (um, one caveat, of course…if you hated it (which I seriously hope you don’t!) you can tell me…but please don’t tell the world.
). You can post up to 5 reviews somewhere (your blog, for instance, or Amazon or Barnes & Noble or Powell’s, etc.) to get up to 5 extra entries.
If you haven’t read it yet but still want an extra entry, either a) post about the online book launch and link to this site on your blog (or somewhere) and tell me where you posted it (those who’ve read it can also get one more extra entry this way…just point me to the post) or b) tell a friend about my book and email me with your story about how you did. How easy is that??
The grand prize contest closes on September 21st, so be sure to get all your entries (extra or otherwise) in before then!

Sign me up for the par-tay celebration. Congrats on your book lauch.
i want it all!
congrats on the book! and thank you for the party!
You’re welcome!
Congrats! and awesome giveaway! Thanks so much:)
Congradulations on the book launch! I just read some reviews about it on Amazon, and it sounds great! I love the vampire aspect of it all, and most of the stuff you are offering. I had always been into vampires, but got really into them after reading “Piercing The Darkness: Undercover With Vampires In America Today” written by Katherine Ramsland. It had started as a true crime book (which, I guess it still was one), but turned into something more exciting. I remember going to a goth shop & picking up these $18 fangs after I read that book, lol. Awesome prize pack!
Hi! Thanks! Oooh, that sounds like an interesting book! And good luck with the prize pack — be sure to enter for every day you’re interested in!
Congrats! That’s so exciting. I love the title of your book – it’s so clever. I’ll be looking for your book in the bookstores!
The launch party is such a lovely idea – promoting other authors while celebrating your own release. Very cool!
P.S. I blogged about your contest (just click on my name). (=
Congrats on the book launch! That is a grand prize I definitely want to win.
Rowan — Thanks
I’ve seen it in Barnes & Noble and some Borders stores. You can also go to http://www.indiebound.org to search for a local (i.e. not chain) store near you.
Leona – Thanks! Yep, Mirrorstone donated some awesome books!
Congrats on your book’s publication! I really look forward to reading it. Great job on the launch.
THIS IS GREAT! COUNT ME IN! THANKS!
Just so you know, you missed putting a link to Cecil Castelluci’s book up there. i bet she feels left out ;P
Oh geez, thanks Moriah! Trying to do too many things at once this week!
I’m late in the congrats, but I wanted to be sure to say directly how much I’ve loved the book since Nina asked me for a second opinion. I’m so happy for you!
OH MY, I can’t believe your book is already out on the shelves. Congratulations! That’s really amazing.
i blogged on myspace.

Hi Nadine-Stella! I know! It’s really cool to go in a Barnes & Noble or other bookstore and see my book on the shelf
if we win a book, can we still enter to win another book?
Absolutely! Every day is a fresh new contest — and the more daily contests you enter, the more chances you have to win the grand prize!
Hiya…I just love this whole concept. I have already told my friends and put it on my blog
http://curlyshoe.blogspot.com/
I rushed out last night to get a copy. I adore my godchild and I am constantly buying her new reading material in which she devours almost immediately. Tonight I am going to sit down and sink my teeth into it…no pun intended. LOL!
oh. cool. well i haven’t won anything yet, but i was just wondering if i did.
I just checked and I don’t see any entries under your name/email address, unless you submitted them from a different email? Just wanted to double check, since your comment makes it sound like you’ve tried to enter on at least one day?
This is a fun party. I’ve added many books to my reading list.
I blogged about the contest some more
http://nenscl.blogspot.com
Hugs, Danette
That’s the idea! Didn’t I gather together some awesome authors??
im glad you did this, i found some way cool authors and books, im now wanting to read!
thankyou!
Good!
I might have to do little Q&A features in the future too…this has been fun. There were some other authors I’d asked that couldn’t participate this time because of prior committments (having a baby, moving to China…), so maybe I can feature them some other time.

One more day!!! Aren’t you excited; I sure am. Whoever wins that grand prize is one lucky reader!
And I just got my copy of Brisingr!! yay dragons. I also got the book The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. I heard it was very good and couldn’t pass up buying a copy.
I know! I can’t wait to see who it will be! Good luck to everyone!
I’ve heard The Hunger Games s really good. The review copy I got went out to Terry, one of my YABC reviewers.
haha I didn’t even know you were giving out a copy of it. I entered a contest to try to win one of 5 copies, but I wasn’t lucky enough. Probably used up all my luck to win that Dream Girl.
Speaking of Dream Girl, I cannot wait to read it, but I have so many books to read!! At the moment i’m reading Life of Pi for school (ahh i love that book!), The Amber Spyglass by Philip Pullman, and Left Behind. Then I must read Brisingr, which i’ve been waiting a year to read.
wow. im not even sure i want to win this contest: all the more books to read!!!
ha! no, i do want to win it, i just need to learn to read faster than 3 minutes a page
i love your book its the best book i ever read.
i personally think its better than the twilight books
i’m using ths book for my isu this semester
Rebecca, oh, thanks! That’s so nice of you to say. I think it’s hard to compare the books, since they are very different, even though they both have vampires
